Auas Valley Shopping Mall in festive mood

e66 iwaIt was an early Christmas at Auas Valley Shopping Mall on Thursday, 30 November when the mall hosted its Christmas late night shopping event. Retailers did not only keep their doors open until 20:00, but also contributed to putting smiles on people’s faces and create an exciting shopping night for customers.

At every late night shopping event, Agra also gives back to the community. At 16:00, senior citizens from retirement institutions in Windhoek sat down at nicely decorated tables in the mall and were entertained with cake and coffee and Christmas carols performed by primary school pupils. The decoration of the tables was part of a team building initiative at Agra Corporate Office. Different divisions of the corporate office had to lay the tables using only natural and recycled items. The kids who performed were from schools in the vicinity of the Auas Valley Shopping Mall, who also participated against each other in decorating Christmas trees as part of the mall decor. In this competition vouchers to the total value of N$11 000 were given to the schools to buy from any shop in the mall.

The winning school was Delta Primary School, who walked away with a mall voucher of N$5 000; Pioneerspark Primary School was second, earning them a voucher of N$3 000, Kleine Professor College in third place won a voucher of N$2 000 and Gymnasium a voucher of N$1 000 in fourth place.

Another initiative to give back to the community was the Children Christmas Gift Collection. A donation box was placed in the mall and people were invited to donate toys to give to children in the children’s ward of the Windhoek Central Hospital. Agra employees also contributed generously by donating toys.

A first for Agra Auctions and a first for the mall was a public auction that was hosted, auctioning items from different retailers in the Auas Valley Shopping Mall with Agra’s stud auctioneer, Henno Badenhorst, who conducted the auction. Items were auctioned off with no reserve price and sold to the highest bidders.

Kids also enjoyed the opportunity to meet Santa while their parents enjoyed a large variety of products and special discount in the different stores in the Auas Valley Shopping Mall.
