Auas Valley Shopping Mall and Agra employees give back to the community

The Auas Valley Shopping Mall (AVSM) hosted a wine-tasting during their Late Night Shopping event on Thursday, 29 June 2017.

The mall, a prime destination for shoppers who want to do their shopping in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, is owned and managed by Agra.

Since Agra is profoundly rooted in serving the Namibian community by supporting social initiatives and community endeavours, it was decided do donate all proceeds from the sales of the wine-tasting coupons together with donations from Agra’s Staff Initiative Fund to the Side by Side Early Intervention Centre, a Namibian, nonprofit charity organization.

This Side by Side Early Intervention Centre provides day care and early intervention services, consultations and a variety of other social service programs to support children with special needs. They also give guidance to the parents and caregivers, address developmental and health issues as well as improve all areas of the development of the children between the ages of 0 to 7. They currently offer support to children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Learning difficulties and global development delays.

Agra’s General Manager of Properties, Henning Tiemann, emphasized the importance of community engagement, creating prosperity and improving quality of life.

“Agra is greatly aligned to community support. Hence, we have identified an organization that fits into our picture”, he said.

“Children are the future, and the little contribution we make, will assist them to integrate into the community, positively contribute to the economy in future and also create awareness of their existence nationwide”, he added.

Agra will continue directing community oriented efforts to further help develop and uplift the people of Namibia creating a better life for all.
